Additional gauges showing voltage, fuel pressure, and exhaust pressure are situated to the driver’s right along with digital charged-air temperature and fuel flow gauges and toggle switchgear. The quick-release MOMO steering wheel sits ahead of instrumentation including a 9k-rpm tachometer and gauges monitoring manifold pressure, individual coolant temperatures for the block and cylinder head, exhaust temperature, oil pressure, and oil temperature for either the engine or transaxle. Additional safety equipment includes a gray-painted roll cage and a Stroud fire-suppression system. The cockpit houses a single seat upholstered in black and outfitted with a six-point Sparco racing harness showing a 2019 expiration date. Adjustable coilover suspension incorporates a MacPherson-strut front arrangement and a torsion-bar rear setup. Stopping is handled by cross-drilled and ventilated discs with adjustable bias from front to rear. The factory Carrera GTR model was an evolution of Porsche’s bid to homologate a Group 4 racing variant of the 924 Turbo based on the production model’s unibody. This 924 Carrera GTR is now offered on dealer consignment in Redmond, Washington, with photos from refurbishment work, invoices from service between 2017 to 2019 totaling over $48k, a workshop manual, and a bill of sale. Power is provided by a 1,984cc Audi inline-four with a water-cooled turbocharger, Bosch mechanical fuel injection, and dual water pumps. After its retirement from racing in 1986, the car changed hands four times before undergoing a refurbishment in Oregon that included a repaint in period Löwenbräu livery. The car was sold in 1983 to Bruce Leven’s Bayside Disposal Racing team, who raced it in IMSA Camel GT competition through the ensuing two seasons, including appearances at the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring. Chassis 924-004 was campaigned by Holbert Racing during the 19 SCCA Trans-Am seasons with Doc Bundy and Hurley Haywood at the wheel. This 1981 Porsche 924 Carrera GTR is one of six examples built by Al Holbert Racing in Warrington, Pennsylvania, using bodies and components supplied by Porsche Motorsport.
